YEmote

For secret smileys, I find the key combo difficult to remember and tedious to cut and paste from a list. For new animated smileys I find it difficult to remember what the animated icons look like from the static menu of the pull down list.
With YEmote2+ its easy, Just run and all the emoticons are only a click away.

YEmote2+ contains a lot of functionality in one program, The following pages will give you an overview of some of these but the best way to find out what you can do with YEmote2+ is to download and give it a try.

Text-FX

Built-in Text effects let you express yourself far beyond what you can with just text and smileys. Uniquely YEmote2+ does not do anything impossible (just tedious) by hand, This means what you send can be seen by anyone using the standard Yahoo Messenger client they wont need to download or install any additional programs. Surprise and impress your friends or just send someone special an ASCII art picture to cheer them up :)

CamGrab-2+

One of the most significant inclusions to YEmote2+ is the integration of CamGrab-2+ functionality. This is much more than a simple bolt together and includes the following new features:

• Auto Scan: All new webcam windows are automatically detected; YEmote's window will change contents according to the currently selected webcam allowing easy access to all capture options without the clutter of multiple control windows. 
  
• Continuous monitor (buffered record): YEmote2+ continually saves the last preset number of frames. Ever seen your friends doing something stupid on cam and wish you had captured it!? With monitor enabled hitting the the Start capture button includes these previous frames, effectively allowing you to start capture before the event. Because all webcam windows are automatically detected there is nothing to think about.
  
• Text Overlay: You can now add text to the saved image; Add the yahoo ID of the person, the current date/time for reference, or just your own text. Use like a video camera's text function to add event text "Happy Birthday" ?
  
• Window title update: If you have multiple webcams open it's easy to lose track if you are capturing or not, YEmote2+ updates the webcam window title, prefixing "(*)" when capture is in progress. 

CamGrab Playback and Thumbnail grid

The new thumbnail grid displays all the webcams you have captured (both as images and saved to AVI) with quick preview and information about each cam. The CamGrab player; This has been updated to improve speed and user feedback. You can stop and start playback from any position and select a range to repeat play, delete, or save (example of a selected range shown as blue bar in position slider)

Message Archive Viewer

Being able to save and review an archive of all messages sent is incredibly useful and credit to Yahoo for including it. But what if you want to view them offline? (Yahoo will only let you view when connected); As I needed to access the archive most often when I was offline it became a problem. YEmote's Message archive viewer solves these and other problems. 

YEmote2+ adds full text formatting displaying the text as originally intended using correct fonts/colour. YEmote2+ is actually significantly faster at displaying the text from long sessions. You can now view your message archive from alternate accounts without having to change login or indeed be online! Even recover text from a login if you have forgotten the password. Full text search helps you find the message you were looking for. Weblink extract locates and lists all the websites located in the message text. (NEW: Now with global search and save)

Y-Voice Alert

Yahoo's built-in knock is great at letting you know when someone has logged in/out but you still have to go to your computer to know who, if you are not quick enough and with lots of friends in your list it can be impossible to see who it was! YEmote2+ solves the problem by actually speaking the userid (or nickname) of your friends as they log in out. It will also announce new instant message windows! But more than this YEmote2+ keeps a log including the date and time so you can see which friends came and went when you were away. To get the voice functions working correctly may require the following additional configuration: Y-VoiceAlert Support

In addition to voice alert you can also hear when users view and leave your webcam, YEmote's drop target will flash green as well as a distinct sound played. If you leave your webcam open it can be useful to know when someone (or how many) people are watching without having to keep an eye on the screen (or the window ontop)

Smiley / Emoticon Editor

Smileys are great... but everyone wants to be different. YEmote5 supported custom smiley sets with automated options for assigning and swapping sets for different users. YEmote2+ includes a set editor allowing easy creation and editing of new sets.

You can create a new set in seconds by selecting alternate smileys from any sets you have installed - you choose which emoticons remain the default yahoo or swapped with a custom.  It's also easy to replace a smiley with any .gif image you have on your computer - just click the destination smiley and browse for the file. You can download sets created by other users (like those included with YEmote), YEmote2+ makes importing these alternate sets just as simple via a drag'n'drop interface.

StatusFX

StatusFX is another new context sensitive window for YEmote2+ The initial need was for a library of status messages that could be selected as easily as the built-in ones. Yahoo stores the past 5 status messages you enter;  I often use the same custom message which get replaced with any I may use for a one off. YEmote2+ can store a almost limitless number of smileys and allows easy access to those you have used in the past, also adds automated status effects and a full drag'n'drop editor. Status library editor is shown in brief below which also allows edit of the 5 custom status message history in Yahoo Messenger. 

Quickly enter a new status without losing yahoo's status history. Built-in automated options include:

I'm Idle - Change your status to indicate your are idle (even if you are not!) Gone for... - Updates every minute indicating how long you have been away Back In - Set the away time to have your status countdown to your expected arrival Going, going.. - Useful when chatting to several people to indicate you are about to leave, allows you to continue chatting as you status is changed to indicate your impending departure (The final status change is to invisible) I'm chatting with... - Want to boast about how many friends you have? need a way to tell friends instant reply is difficult? Updates your status indicating how many message windows you have open.

Shown above is the YEmote2+ context window (displayed when you select the main Yahoo Messenger window). Beneath is the library status picker. The library allows for a structured categorized organization of status messages with status icons (including idle). NEW:  Status Cycle Changer - Automatically updates your status from a preset list you choose every minute  Y-Eyes - Just for fun :)

User Profiles

Ever needed to quickly note something down when chatting with someone? maybe a website address? telephone number? 

An additional  panel on YEmote+ allows you to save simple notes for each user (The notes are displayed when the users message window is active or from the user setting).

Quotes library allows storage of messages for quick paste into the chat window, any message length can be stored up to the maximum message allowed, along with a short description to be displayed in the pick menu, Stored message/quotes can also be assigned with the user which are only displayed when that users chat window is active. User settings allow edit of user notes, assign a custom smiley set. preview saved webcams and quick access to the message archive.

AutoTextFX

AutoTextFX is a new feature for responding to commands typed directly in the message box. Examples include text replace; where the command is replaced with some text e.g. the current time/date or a quote from the library. Text modify where the previous text is transformed using HackText or SizeWave. Window commands including keep the current chat window on top of other windows and set transparency of chat windows.
